What it costs, and why
Every quote is built the same way: a call-out charge, mileage priced by the zone your vehicle is in, and the service itself. Add-ons and fees are listed as their own lines. You see the total before you accept, and any change on scene has to be agreed by you first.
What a quote is made of
- The service itself, priced by what you drive
- Mileage, at the rate for the zone you are in
- On-scene time, only where the job is charged by time
- Published adjustments, each on its own line
- Pass-through fees and tax, never marked up
The methodHow a quote is put together
Six steps, in this order, every time. The same calculation runs whether you call us or start the request yourself.
- The service itselfA starting price for the job, set by the service and by what you drive. This is the call-out and the work.
- MileageCharged on the route the truck actually drives, at the rate for the zone you are in. The rate tapers as the distance grows.
- On-scene time, where it appliesRecovery and winching are charged by the time they take. The driver agrees the cost with you before starting and photographs the scene.
- What is different about this jobTime of day, the vehicle class and unusual conditions each have their own published line. Nothing is folded invisibly into another number.
- Fees and taxTolls, gate charges and disposal are passed through at cost and never discounted. Tax is applied where it is due.
- Your total, before you acceptYou see every line and the total. If the driver finds extra work on scene, you get a revised quote to accept or decline first.
There is a floor under every job: the smallest amount we can send a truck for is $65.00. It is applied before any discount, so a promotion can never be clawed back by it.
Mileage is rounded up to the nearest tenth of a mile.
The commitmentsWhat you can rely on
The rules we hold ourselves to around the number, not just the number itself.
- You see the full itemised price before you accept. The price is calculated by our system, not quoted from memory by whoever answers.
- A quote holds for 30 minutes while you decide.
- You pay when the job is done. If a particular job needs payment authorised up front, the request wizard tells you before you accept.
- You can cancel free of charge within 10 minutes of accepting. After that, if a driver is already on the way, a cancellation charge covers the trip they made and the amount is shown on your job.
- If the driver finds work on scene that was not in the quote, you get a revised quote to accept or decline. Nobody starts unpaid work and argues about it later.
